Chapter 2: Kyle
It was a beautiful day. It truely beat any other. Kyle was on his way to his girlfriend's house. They were very much in love. (Too bad I never experienced that...). As he arrived at her house, he gave her a quick peck on the lips and said "Happy Valentine's Day" with a light blush on his face. She of course returned his greeting and they left. He was taking her on a romantic date. He had planned a beautiful night for them. They were going to see some romantic movie followed by a beautiful candle lit dinner outside under the stars where he was planning on proposing to her. Of course, she had no idea about any of it.
After the movie, Kyle decided to have them walk to his candle lit destination. His girlfriend was fine with it because, after all, she had Kyle to protect her. As they were walking, they started to realize that it was darker than usual and that there were more people out on the street than usual. Not the friendly kind of people either. Keep walking. Just keep walking. We'll be there soon, God please don't let anything bad happen. Not tonight. I need to hear her answer so I can at least die happy he thought. To say the least, Kyle was nervous about all the people around at that time. Of course, he didn't show it. He didn't want to freak out his girlfriend.
After about an hour of walking, Kyle realized he didn't know where they were at. Shit! he thought. I thought we were close by! His girlfriend was getting tired and a little cranky too.
"Are we even close yet, Kyle?"
"What do you mean, maybe?!"
"Well, uhm, we may be lost..kinda..."
"Look, I'm sorry okay? If it makes you feel any better, I'm upset too. I was gonna...nevermind."
"You were going to what?"
With that, Kyle got on his knees and took his girlfriend's hand as he looked into her eyes. Her eyes were wide with the realization of what he was about to ask.
"You've made me the happiest man in the world. I'll never love another, I swear it. You have my heart for all eternity. But, on one condition. Do I have yours?" with that, he pulled a ring out of his pocket and held it up to her waiting on the reply.
Before she could answer, there was a crash off to the left of them. Two large teenagers were attempting to break into a house but were failing. Kyle stood up and took his girlfriend's hand. That was his mistake. The teenagers saw that they had been caught and didn't want anyone else to find out about it. They started walking towards Kyle, considering he would be harder to take down even if they had weapons. The teenagers started walking slowly towards the couple at first, but then broke off into a sprint so that they couldn't get away. Kyle's girlfriend let out a scream as the first boy hit Kyle in the back of his knee with the crowbar he was weilding. The teenagers hadn't thought about the girl screaming so they panicked and the second boy hit her across the head with his baseball bat. She was knocked out instantly.
Kyle got up and tried to swing at the second boy, completly ignoring the first boy who had taken out his legs. The second boy easily stopped him by swinging the bat at his side as hard as he could, causing a few ribs to crack. The first boy came up behind Kyle, as he crouched over in pain, and swung at his other side. Kyle fell to the ground with tears streaming down his face, but he hadn't let out a scream yet. He didn't want to give them what they wanted, but most importantly, he didn't want to make the pain worse. He crawled over to his girlfriend's limp body that he was going to protect with his life. However, the second boy, the larger one, grabbed him and threw him onto the ground a few feet away. The first boy started swinging his crowbar at Kyle's face. Blood spattered everywhere, covering the ground in many areas. Adrenaline coarsed through his body and gave him enough strength to kick the legs out of the boy bashing his face in. When the first boy fell, Kyle tried to crawl back to his girlfriend once more. This time, to be met by a hard kick in the face that shattered his nose. But, he still kept going. When he reached his girlfriend he quickly slipped the ring onto her finger and covered her body with his, afraid that when they were finished with him, they would move onto her.
"I love you, forever and always," he whispered into her ear, hoping that her subcontious mind would hear it.
After he said those last words, one last blow was delivered to his head with the baseball bat. The hit cracked his head opened and caused him to bleed out. Everything went black. And that's when he woke up here. Alone forever in this miserable place. Forever clueless to what happened to his girlfriend. Forever without knowing what her answer would have been and what their life together could've been. Forever stuck in this place, like me.
Huh, after hearing his story, maybe this is Hell after all. Well, for him anyways. Always knowing that she could be reliving that day every second in her head. Or that she could've been harmed or worse. Yeah, maybe it is Hell...
